First approach to JSyn Java Synthesis libraries

Hi everybody, I just wrote a little program in Java, simulating the functionality of a Theremin. It has the classic Theremin’s controls, the expression (volume) controller on the X axis and the frequency (tone) controller on the Y axis; as you’ll move the mouse, you’ll hear different tones and different louds.

Here is a little example video:

just showing how it works.The only difference between a classical Theremin and this program is that the program controls two oscillators (the Theremin usually has only one oscillator) and the two oscillators do “complementary” things, while the first is increasing his frequency, the second is decreasing its.

Future developements:

  • enable waveforms’ change, just to let users create their own sound;
  • apply filters and envelopes;
  • use one/two WiiMote Bluetooth controller to control pitch and expression values.

I’m glad if you’ll like to leave comments and ideas here on this blog, very thank you!
